Trusted by leading Australian healthcare providers
Our history
The beginning
Our parent company is first established as a software house in 1985. Developing tailored solutions for data sharing and workflow automation across a range of sectors.
Our first major deployment
MasterCare is selected in 1990 to implement Chiron, our first patient administration and financial management system to over 300 public hospitals across Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia.
Parent company publicly listed
In 2000, MasterCare’s parent company (then known as Working Systems Pty Ltd) lists on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:WSS).
Building our Patient Administration System
MasterCare develops MHAGIC in 2002, a system for managing mental health assessments in the community health setting. Soon after in 2004, our Patient Administration System (PAS) is developed for supporting small to medium sized Australian hospitals to run their day-to-day operations.
Delivering a new Electronic Medical Record
In 2006, MasterCare is selected by headspace National as the solution of choice for supporting the delivery of mental health services across all 40 headspace centres
One year later, MasterCare is asked to work alongside South Australia GP on the “Shared Care” mental health services program. A project that integrated South Australia’s state mental health and community based mental health programs. This lead to the development of a new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that was rolled out across 14 service providers.
Parent company renamed as Global Health
In 2008, MasterCare’s parent company was renamed as Global Health Limited (ASX:GLH).
Expanding our offerings
MasterCare is selected in 2015 as the statewide solution for South Australia’s mental health and drug and alcohol service providers funded through the State’s Primary Health Networks.
This coincides with the expansion of MasterCare’s territory wide Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solution from mental health to include alcohol and other drug and justice health services. This lead to the development of our Patient Portal and Personal Health Record applications.
Two years later in 2017, development begins on MasterCare’s new web-based platform. An integrated Patient Administration System (PAS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solution first rolled out to Peninsula Health as a Referral Management platform.
Driving development alongside our hospital clients
2020 sees MasterCare deliver our web-based solution in the hospital setting for generating electronic Discharge Summaries for existing Patient Administration System (PAS) clients. Further development begins in 2021 on the platform to create an Inpatient Electronic Medical Record (iEMR) solution. Offering an affordable alternative for private and independent Australian hospitals looking to add a clinical solution to their technology stack.
Taking client care out of the clinic
In 2022, MasterCare delivers “Connect”, a mobile application for our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solution. Enabling clinicians to access their key clinical and administrative tools on-the-go or in offline settings.
Further development also leads to the release of a new integration between our EMR and Patient Portal solutions to provide a digital front door for promoting client engagement and automating administrative tasks for clinicians and administrators.
Advancing Patient Care and System Integration
In 2023, MasterCare introduced a range of advanced functionalities aimed at enhancing the overall user experience and ensuring seamless operations within healthcare environments. Notable developments include the addition of a Client Photo feature, an Inpatient Journey Board to streamline patient tracking, and the ability to manage Pathology Orders and Results with improved support. Our platform also saw the introduction of cloning documents and the capacity to add progress notes and annotations against episodes, allowing for more efficient documentation. Integration improvements, particularly with our sister brand HotHealth, and the ability to import documents from EMR extracts further expanded our interoperability and user-friendliness.
To meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers, MasterCare enhanced its security features, introduced an auto-saving capability for documents, and provided options like 24-hour time formatting. The platform now supports PowerBI for advanced data analytics, and new functionalities such as handover notes, document headers and footers, and deceased client management were also integrated.
Enhancing Financial and Clinical Management
In 2024, MasterCare continues to advance with a range of new features designed to improve financial management, patient care, and data handling. The platform now includes enhanced Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) capabilities. These updates help streamline financial operations, ensuring more accurate billing and resource allocation. We also added support for AHPRA numbers, electronic prescribing, and expanded lookup functions for patients, debtors, ICD-10 diagnoses, and procedures. Additionally, the RCM module now features an Episode banner, robust reporting tools, debtor search, and accounting period management.
